Embassy of India in Muscat concludes Mission Life campaign

Muscat: The Embassy of India, Muscat, has successfully concluded a week-long awareness campaign as part of the Mission Life (Lifestyle for Environment) initiative, aimed at  encouraging behavioural changes in individuals to combat climate change.

The campaign, which ran from August 13 to August 19, 2023, included a series of impactful activities and events that highlighted the importance of transitioning from wasteful consumption to responsible resource utilisation.

Mission Life, launched by Honourable Prime Minister on October 20, 2022, envisions a global movement towards mindful consumption and environmental conservation. The initiative seeks to address the pressing challenges of climate change and global warming by inspiring individuals to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives.

The week long campaign launched by the Embassy on 13 August 2023.

The event saw the participation of more than 100 environmental enthusiast and prominent members of Indian Community in Oman.

The programme commenced with a screening of a message from the Hon’ble Prime Minister, reinforcing the core principles of Mission Life. Ambassador H.E. Shri Amit Narang in his address highlighted the urgency of addressing climate change and emphasising the role of Mission LiFE in achieving this goal.  

On August 14, Ambassador set an inspiring example by planting a ‘Tulsi’ plant within the Embassy premises, encouraging officials to replicate this initiative in their households for a healthier future. Continuing the momentum, the Embassy marked India’s Independence Day on August 15 with a gathering of over 600 guests.

The Ambassador in his address highlighted the significance of sustainable living through Mission Life and called upon the audience to embrace its seven themes, while also shedding light on health benefits of Millets, as world celebrates the International Year of Millets.

On August 16, Indian School Wadi Kabir (ISWK) orchestrated a remarkable mega event as part of their commitment to promoting Mission Life.

During this event, students took center stage by showcasing exhibits dedicated to each theme of Mission Life.

These exhibits served as powerful platforms to communicate practical solutions for energy conservation, water preservation, sustainable food systems, and more.

The event was further enriched by cultural performances curated for raising awareness about the importance of sustainable living.

The Ambassador addressed the students, emphasising the significance of adopting small lifestyle changes that collectively contribute to a greener future.

On August 17, several Indian Schools in Oman organised awareness campaigns under Mission Life, promoting sustainable living and environmental consciousness.

The Embassy further popularised the cause of adopting healthy lifestyles through yoga sessions under Mission Life. The sessions, held within the Embassy premises, enabled participants to connect with their physical and mental well-being.
