Muscat: The Ministry of Education honoured the outstanding students in the general diploma in the schools of the Sultanate of Oman for the academic year 2022/2023 on Sunday evening.
More than 100 students were honoured at a ceremony held at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel under the auspices of Eng. Salem bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals.
The ceremony were was held in the presence of Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniya, Minister of Education, and with the support of Occidental Oman (OXY).
The honouring ceremony began with an introductory film, after which Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, delivered the ministry’s speech. Occidental Oman, the sponsoring company, gave a presentation on social responsibility, followed by the company’s speech delivered by Nasser bin Issa Al Maskari, Director of the Social Responsibility Department.
The students, Al-Jawhara Al-Hasani, Afnan Al-Zadjali, Osama Al-Nawfali, and Faisal Al-Amri recited a poem entitled ‘Outstanding, Bright with Joy,’ by the poet Munira bint Khamis Al-Ma’amaria.
The speech of the outstanding students was delivered followed by the actual honoring of the excellent students.
Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, stressed in his speech on the importance of caring for the excellent students.
He said: “Caring for the excellent and supporting them as the real wealth of this country is one of the priorities of the wise government, so everyone must motivate them and provide them with all aspects of care to achieve excellence and continue to compete at their university level, and in all fields of science and knowledge.”
“We call on our outstanding students who were able to pass this stage successfully, and excel, to continue their excellence in the next educational stages, and to strive to achieve success no less than what they achieved in this stage, and we also call on them to invest their excellence in what supports this country and achieves its goals,” he added.
We can only extend our highest thanks and gratitude to everyone who contributed to reaching this goal, and everyone who persevered in achieving it, including parents, school administrations, teachers, and everyone who had a hand and avenue for this excellence,” he further said.
Nasser bin Issa Al Maskari, Head of the Occidental Oman Social Responsibility Department, in delivering the company’s speech, said: “At Occidental Oman, through our strategy in the field of social responsibility, we attach great importance to supporting and investing in education, as it is a sustainable investment whose positive impact is reflected on generations.”
“This is in line with the royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, which aims to provide education with all the means of empowerment in line with the requirements of the next stage, and with Oman Vision 2040, which placed education and strengthening national capabilities at the top of its priorities.”
“From this standpoint came the cooperation between Occidental Oman and the Ministry of Education, represented in many social responsibility initiatives in line with common goals and visions.”
The honoured students expressed their thanks and gratitude to their parents and teachers.
They said: “Today our hearts beat with pride that we reaped from the fruits of your struggle, your work, and your hope. We also renew our pledge before you to be a seed of love and belonging to our dear homeland that has given us so much, and this great moment is only a small part of the march of science, and the train of science will not stop here, but we will continue the journey of research, knowledge, and transcendence of our homeland, adhering to the teachings of our true religion and the authenticity of our culture and our Omani society.”
