Tennis: Oman's Fatma Al Nabhani moves into second round at Saint Gervais

Muscat: Oman's Fatma Al Nabhani, who is top seeded at the $10.000 Saint Gervais Mont Blanc Tennis Tournament in France, began her campaign with win in the women's singles.
Teaming up with French partner Estelle Cascino and seeded fourth, the duo has earned a first round bye.
In the women's singles, Fatma Al Nabhani survived a tight first set before beating Italy's Natali Marianna 7-6 (3), 6-0.
The Omani girl was dragged to a tie-break first set but she blanked the Italian in the second set to set up a match against Switzerland's Chiara Frapolli in the second round.
Chiara defeated Argentine Carla Lucero 6-1, 7-5.
Meanwhile, Fatma and Estelle will play Chiara Quattrone (Italy) and Carla Lucero (Argentina) in the second round of the doubles event.
Chiara and Carla fought valiantly to defeat Italian pair of Claudio Coppola and Natali Marianna 7-5, 2-6, 10-5 in the first round.
Meanwhile, Fatma's partner Estelle crashed out of the singles event losing to Marina Shamayko of Russia 6-4, 6-4 in the first round.
The tournament final is scheduled for July 24.
