Muscat: The number of commercial registries that were completed reached 19,470 while the number of industrial registries completed touched 1,153 during the first half of this year in the Governorate of South A’Sharqiyah.
Moreover, the number of foreign projects registered with the department in the governorate reached 124 with an investment value exceeding OMR108 million till the end of the first half of this year 2023, the Department of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in the Governorate of South A’Sharqiyah said.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP), said on Sunday that the Governorate of Al Sharqiyah South is ready to host many investment and economic projects, whether local or foreign investments.
The Department of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in the governorate of Al Sharqiyah South and the other concerned authorities are exerting their utmost efforts to provide the required facilities for investors, the ministry said in a statement.
Khalid bin Hamad Al-Saadi, Director of the Department of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in the Governorate of Al Sharqiyah South, said: “The governorate enjoys a unique geographical nature and important historical and archaeological sites, where the coasts of the governorate extend through four out of five Wilayats, while the governorate of Al Sharqiyah South is one of the most important centers for providing and exporting fish wealth.”
He further said, “Al-Sharqiyah South is considered an attractive destination for the economy, as it embraces various investment projects. Some of these include among others the Blue Project, Al-Diyar project in Niabat Ras Al-Hadd at Wilayat of Sur. Many food security and agricultural projects at Wilayat of Al-Kamil and Al-Wafi, two shrimp farming projects at Wilayats of Jalan Bani Bu Ali and Jalan Bani Bu Hassan and the Sur Sea Port project.”
“All these projects are vital economic tributaries and one of the most important development projects for the governorate, as this project contributes to increasing the flow of foreign investment as well as providing promising job opportunities,” he added.
Khalid Al-Saadi further said: “Through the Department of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in the Governorate of Al-Sharqiyah South, in cooperation with the Governor’s Office and government and private entities in the governorate, we are setting a plan for developing the Governorate of Al-Sharqiyah South by participating in facilitating procedures for holding annual events and activities in the governorate, like the Maritime History Forum of the Governorate, the Summer Forum, and a number of economically stimulating exhibitions and activities in the governorate.”
He further pointed out, “The Made in Oman campaign contributes to promote the Omani product and highlighting it in the domestic markets, acquainting the consumer and resident with Omani industries, as well as encouraging local producers, manufacturers and motivating small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to enrich the commercial markets in Various governorates with more products in order to achieve diversity and enhancing competition and sustainability.”
He further stressed that the campaign comes within the framework of the MoCIIP's endeavour towards integrative roles between the public and private sectors to enhance the business environment and support SMEs as well as the promotion and marketing of national products.
