Salalah braces itself for Mekunu, activates contingency plan

Muscat: The Salalah Port Authority has activated its contingency plan, that includes transferring all ships in the port to safe locations,in preparation for the tropical storm Mekunu.

As part of the plan, authorities said, “All navigational lines will be informed of the latest developments of the orbital situation and dangerous containers will be transported to safe places.”

The emergency plan also includes covering vital sites with sandbags in case of flooding, evacuating the oil collection sites and transferring them to safe places, apart from placing gravel on the ground in designated areas, and transporting equipment to safer areas.
