MUSCAT: Oman’s Seeb Club went down fighting to Uzbekistan's AGMK FC by 1-0 in their AFC Champions League 2023/24 preliminary round tie at the AMMC Sports Complex in Olmaliq, Uzbekistan on Tuesday. The defeat ended Seeb’s hopes of advancing to the next stage. The victory meant AGMK will meet Qatar's Al Arabi SC in the playoffs next week for a place in the group stage.
Both sides started cautiously with AGMK, backed by their fans, slowly taking control of the tight contest.
They, however, had to wait till the second half for the only goal of the game, with Khurshid Giyosov's right-footed shot from the centre of the box finding the back of the net.
The match, however, saw a sour ending for AGMK with Martin Boakye sent off in the 73rd minute after receiving two yellow cards.
The playoffs next Tuesday will be followed by the group stage draw two days later in Kuala Lumpur.
