

Muscat: An imprisonment for a period not less than ten days and not exceeding three months and a fine up to OMR 5,000 will be charged on anyone for removing soil and sand from waterways, beaches and valleys without a permit from the Environment Authority in the Sultanate of Oman.
"The removal of soil and sand from waterways, beaches and valleys without a permit from the Environment Authority is an explicit violation of Article No. (21) of the Environmental Protection and Pollution Control Law," Environment Authority said in a statement.
The Authority added that the penalty is imprisonment for a period of not less than ten days and not exceeding three months, and a fine of not less than OMR 500 and not more than OMR 5,000, or one of the two penalties.
