Muscat: With participation of 180 bands, the Royal Army of Oman (RAO) Music Band is carrying out a training programme as part of its participation in the World Music Competition, which is being held in Scotland, United Kingdom until 21 August, 2023.
The training programme includes performing compositions prescribed in the competition, along with the military infantry. This is in preparation for various competitions distributed over five cities in Scotland in which the band will participate.
Colonel Ahmed bin Salem Al Shukairi, Director of Music of the Oman Royal Army, said that this participation is an opportunity to show the high level of Omani military music, the extent of discipline and professionalism possessed by all the players, in addition to meeting with different international bands to gain more experience. His hope is to obtain advanced positions in various competitions.
Captain Ahmed bin Ali Al-Rashdi, leader of the competition team, explained that a dedicated training programme had been set up which began before the launch of the competition. He added that this participation is an opportunity to meet international musicians and acquire international musical skills.
