
Muscat: After the issuance of a decision by the Republic of India to stop exporting rice, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR), confirmed that the strategic stock of rice in the Sultanate of Oman is safe.
A statement issued online by the MAFWR said : "The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources follows up the developments that have taken place since the issuance of a decision by the Republic of India to stop the export of rice. In this context, the Ministry confirms, in coordination with government agencies, that the strategic stock of rice in the Sultanate of Oman is safe, and there is no reason to worry about its shortage or high prices."
The Ministry added that these incidents are periodically followed up, situations evaluated and appropriate measures are taken accordingly.
