Oman American Business Council (AmCham Oman) appoints new CEO

Muscat: The Oman American Business Council (OABC) is excited to announce the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, Rebecca Olson, effective August 1, 2023. Rebecca previously served as the Executive Director for the OABC for 5 years before departing in July 2022, and now returns to lead the organization as CEO.

In her new role, Rebecca will be responsible for overseeing the execution of the OABC’s mission: implementing new initiatives to improve trade, develop bilateral relations, and establish a stronger presence promoting Oman trade and investment in the United States.

OABC President and Chairman Emeritus, Ali Daud, expressed his appreciation for Rebecca’s leadership during her previous period as Executive Director: “We’re ushering in a new era for OABC and for the business relationship between Oman and the USA over the coming years. Rebecca has a wealth of experience and earned the respect of our business community members, and we are confident the she will lead OABC to accomplish our objectives. In line with Vision 2040, and the country's plan to diversify its economy, we intend to establish new avenues to seize the potential US-Oman Free Trade Agreement, one of only four such agreements in the entire MENA region.”

“There has never been a better time to focus on trade and investment between Oman and the U.S.”, says Fouad Eid, Vice President of the OABC. “OABC will work in partnership with MOCIIP, OCCI, the U.S. Embassy Muscat, and other key stakeholders to promote some very exciting opportunities for Omani, American and foreign companies. For example, Oman recently signed an MOU with the U.S. EXIM Bank for USD 500 million in financing for those seeking to purchase U.S. products at competitive rates. We aim to help companies access information and practical support surrounding this and other benefits of the FTA.”

Rebecca expressed her gratitude upon returning to the OABC: "I am honored and privileged to serve as CEO of the OABC, the country’s leading business networking organization and the official affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Oman. I look forward to working together with the Board, our members, and our dedicated staff to ensure we continue contributing to the growth of an active business community in Oman, building bridges for trade and investment with the U.S., and fulfilling the expectations of our members."
