Alawi in China to boost ties

Beijing: Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, accompanied by a high-ranking delegation comprising senior Omani officials, is paying an official visit to the People’s Republic of China.
The delegation visited a number of major Chinese economic and financial institutions, such as China Bank, CITIC Bank International and China Chamber of International Commerce.
During the visit, bin Alawi will meet with his Chinese counterpart as they will hold cordial talks to enhance and promote the joint relations between the Sultanate and China.
The two sides will also sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Sultanate’s Government and the Chinese Government dealing with cooperation within the framework of the Silk Road Economic Belt (One Belt One Road Initiative), the 21st century Maritime Silk Road.
The visit comes within the framework of the historic relations binding Oman and China, as it stems from the common desire of the two countries to enhance areas of cooperation and consultation, as well as to develop horizons of economic, trade and investment partnership between the two countries.
The ties between the Sultanate and China are rapidly developing on various fields. On May 25, the two friendly countries will mark the 40th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relations between Oman and China.
