Tax administration modernisation programme launched

Muscat: Within the framework of the national programme initiatives for financial sustainability and the development of the financial sector related to tax affairs, the Tax Authority launched the Tax Administration Modernisation programme. The programme is designed to cover all the technical, legislative, administrative, organisational, human and governance.

The developmental programme aims to raise the level of the Tax Authority’s performance and achieve the financial sustainability and growth of tax revenues through the development of the Tax Authority’s work mechanism.

In addition to the development of human resources capabilities and efficiency, and adoption of tax practices, modern administrative and organisational procedures, as well as appropriate technical and legislative systems. The programme also will make the provisions of tax laws and performance of the tax obligations prescribed by law easy for the taxpayers, and it will strengthen the bridges of trust between taxpayers and the tax administration and not increase the current tax rates so as not to affect the competitiveness of the economy in terms of its attractiveness to local and foreign investments.
