Muscat: With blessings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Royal Court Affairs (RCA) has begun using the first fleet of electric vehicles (EVs).
The step is a part of a national initiative that conforms with the national plan for net zero emissions.
The move is also within the framework of the Sultanate of Oman’s approach to utilize clean energy in the transport sector.
This initiative is considered the start of the transition process to using EVs in various work requirements. The current fleet of cars will be replaced gradually with EVs according to a specific time plan.
Nasr Hamoud Al Kindi, RCA Secretary General, said: “The quest for the shift process to use electric vehicles is a translation of the Royal directives of His Majesty the Sultan who always stresses the need to use clean energy due to its positive results, whether on the environment or society in general.”
He added that this step comes in line with the global developments in the field of transport, which will undoubtedly contribute to reducing carbon emissions and fuel combustion.
