Rajya Puraskar conferred on Scouts and Guides of ISM

Muscat: Indian School Muscat held the prestigious Rajya Puraskar Award Ceremony on April 16 on the school grounds with great fervour.

Eight Scouts and Guides became the proud recipients of the Rajya Puraskar. Indra Mani Pandey, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate and Patron of Bharat Scouts and Guides Oman District, graced the occasion and conferred the awards on the students.

Mohammad Muslim Al Hinai, Assistant General Manager, Oman Scouts and Guides, Oman Headquarters; Members of the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman; Ajay Kumar Pillai, President, Indian School Muscat Management Committee; Members of the School Management Committee; Dignitaries; Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan, President, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Oman District; S. I. Sheriff, Vice President, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Oman District; Zacharias Jacob, District Chief Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Oman District; Senior Vice Principal, (Administration) Saji S. Nair; Advisor to the principal; Vice Principals; Assistant Vice Principals; heads of various departments; Scout masters; Guide captains; teachers; parents and students joined the proceedings to witness the grand award


The chief guest was welcomed with a terrarium as a symbol of environment conservation. The opening of the award ceremony was marked with an assembly formation and the singing of the Indian National Anthem, followed by the prayer song. The chief guest hoisted the Scouts and Guides flag. Raj Kumar Bandila of Class VII H welcomed the guests.

The chief guest presented the Rajya Puraskar awards to four Scouts and four Guides of Indian School Muscat.

The recipients were Tanmay H. Khetia, X A; Ranganathan, X A; Gaurav Shekhar R., X A; S. Vignesh, X F; Meryl Shaji, X E; Madhura Patil, X A; Kuspal Chauhan, X A; and Priyanka Chandra, X A. The chief guest acknowledged their commitment to the movement and pinned the badges of honour and presented certificates to them.

The chief guest honoured the four dedicated mentors of these awardees, Felcy Fernandes, District Secretary, Bharat Scouts and Guides; Vikram Singh Yadhuvanshi, Coordinator, Rajya Puruskar ceremony; Aslam Sheriff; and Vidya Jeffry with letters of appreciation for their commitment and service towards the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement in the school.

While addressing the gathering, the chief guest congratulated the recipients of the Rajya Puraskar. He encouraged the aspirants with his enlightening words of advice and urged them to live up to the motto and serve the community.

He expressed that the essence of the Scouts and Guides movement is to imbue our youth with a sense of discipline, courage, confidence and compassion, enabling them to grow up as global citizens who can contribute to a harmonious world. He lauded the valuable work done by the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Oman District.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Samruddhi of Class VIII K. The solemn ceremony came to a close with the singing of the school anthem.

The Principal, Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan, congratulated the proud recipients of the Rajya Puraskar and placed on record their notable achievement. He wished them the very best while contesting at the next level, the Rastrapati Puraskar.
