A statement issued online by ONA said that the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Royal Cavalry of the Royal Court Affairs and the Royal Guard of Oman, concluded its participation in the 2023 Tattoo Basel Military Music Show. The show was held in Basel, Switzerland, with the participation of musical groups from different countries of the world.

The closing day of the Tattoo Basel show, yesterday evening, witnessed various activities. This was represented by the participation of a joint band in presenting a musical performance in the main arena of the show. The musicians played Omani, Arab and international music.

In the corner dedicated to the Sultanate of Oman, a group of musicians from the Royal Cavalry and the Omani Royal Guard played various pieces of music. Omani Halwa, incense and Omani Luban were presented to visitors.

On the other hand, another group of musicians, during the children's open day, played musical compositions for children and introduced them to different types of music and its instruments and their uses, in addition to training children to ride horses. The children and their parents interacted with the programme offered to them.

The main show and the closing ceremony of the Tattoo Basel show were held with the participation of all musical groups. The musicians of the Royal Cavalry and the Omani Royal Guard gave a musical show on Arab horseback, which included the playing of various pieces of music that reflected the richness of Omani music and the cultural and civilisational heritage of the Sultanate of Oman.

His Excellency Engineer Hilal bin Mohammed Al-Waeli, Head of Horse, Camel, Farms and Royal Gardens Affairs at the Royal Court Affairs, said that the participation of the Sultanate of Oman was honourable through the brilliance of the musicians and knights in musical performances on horseback, and that the invitation extended to the Sultanate of Oman to participate in this show expresses the great reputation Omani music has achieved during previous participations in international forums.

His Excellency Mahmoud bin Hamad al-Hasani, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Swiss Confederation, confirmed that participation in such international shows represents a promotion of the Sultanate of Oman and defines its cultural heritage, adding that the participation of the Royal Cavalry in the affairs of the Royal Court and the Omani Royal Guard was reputably welcomed and interacted with.

His Excellency Ambassador Idris bin Abdulrahman Al-Khanjari, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations and international organisations in Geneva, expressed his happiness with the participation of the Sultanate during the Tattoo Basel military music show, as music represents a message of rapprochement. It is not just an art, but rather an effective and influential diplomatic tool to introduce people to different world cultures.
