Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Tabreed Oman, a leader in operating sustainable district cooling operations in the Sultanate of Oman, to build and operate a central cooling plant in Innovation Park Muscat in accordance with the highest technical and professional standards.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation on the part of the Ministry, and Eng. Abdullah bin Said Al Hinai, CEO of the Tabreed Oman
Her Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation confirmed that this strategic partnership carries a lot of importance in the long term.
"Tabreed Oman is a leading Omani company in providing innovative and environmentally friendly solutions in the field of sustainable cooling, and shares our concern for the environment through its commitment to reducing carbon emissions. This is in line with the Ministry’s commitment to achieving long-term sustainability in line with 'Oman Vision 2040', and defining 2050 as a year for zero carbon neutrality in the Sultanate of Oman. It will also provide Innovation Park Muscat with high-quality services and will ensure that it always has an ideal environment for work," the Minister added.
Eng. Abdullah bin Said Al Hinai, CEO of Tabreed Oman, said that this promising strategic partnership comes within the framework of expanding the success of the company in the Sultanate of Oman, especially with regard to sustainable cooling, which is one of the most important capabilities of environmental protection, and contributes significantly to reducing electricity consumption by up to 50 percent or more compared to conventional cooling systems.
"The agreement represents an important addition to the company in light of the government's interest in finding sustainable and environmentally friendly technical solutions at various levels, and providing job opportunities for young people in various fields," Al Hinai added.
The sustainable district cooling plant is located within the Innovation Park Muscat, with a total land area of 1,500 square metres. It provides the necessary infrastructure for air cooling for a wide variety of current and future buildings in the complex, with a total cooling capacity of more than 10,000 TR.
