ABQ to open a new school in August

Muscat: Oman’s largest international school operator, ABQ Education Group, is opening its very first Private school at the start of the new academic year in August 2023. The Group falls under the Education pillar of The Zubair Corporation and operates under the philosophy of transforming and developing Oman’s education system and, consequently, the nation itself.

The school will be able to accommodate 1200 students from KG to Grade 12 but will initially only launch KG to Grade 4 in Year 1. The Al Imtiaz campus in Bawshar, which was previously home to the ABQ Azzan Bin Qais International School for 20 years before they relocated to Madinat Sultan Qaboos last year, is best-in-class and will soon be available for campus tours.

ABQ has become synonymous with excellent academic standards, innovative and unique programmes, outstanding facilities, and providing students with a comprehensive and holistic education. With the Group’s well-established portfolio of premium international schools in Oman, ABQ Azzan Bin Qais, ABQ Seeb, and ABQ Sohar, and their two standalone Pre-KG nursery schools in Muscat and Sohar, ABQ is excited to open Al Imtiaz Private School in Bawshar later this year.

ABQ Education Group Chief Executive Officer, Humayun Kabir said, “We have received consistent market feedback that there is a need for a more affordable, yet exceptional academic product, and ABQ is responding to this need by making quality education accessible to a larger segment of society. ABQ Al Imtiaz will offer a more traditional environment than ABQ’s other schools, with segregated classes for boys and girls from Secondary grades onwards as well as a unique blend of international (Cambridge) and enhanced Arabic curricula.”

Kabir added, “Imtiaz means unique, distinct, and exceptional and we recognise that each child has unique strengths and needs. We have high expectations for all our students and encourage each student to achieve their full potential.”

“Al Imtiaz School is part of ABQ’s vision to further develop the educational system within the Sultanate of Oman by providing varied options and opportunities for students, and to equip the next generation to build a promising future for themselves and those around them based on the decisions being made today”, Kabir concluded.

Mr Sigve Austheim, ABQ’s Chief Learning Officer said, “ABQ has an exceptional track record of delivering the highest standard in education and with this more affordable education option, we want to ensure that more families can benefit from the quality education we offer across our schools.”

With close to 60 cumulative years of school operating experience, ABQ has a wealth of knowledge and expertise within the Group to ensure that ABQ Al Imtiaz will be an educational institution that is forward-looking, academically strong, and culturally rooted in the local society.
