Muscat: The Global Space and Technology Company announced the 'Zone 88' area located in the special economic zone at Duqm, Oman which aims to attract global investments in the space industry.
The area includes five international projects: A space habitat centre, commercial space launching area, unmanned vehicles technology centre, artificial intelligence and advanced technology testing area and ground station. These projects have been designed to promote the space and technology industry, Attract global investment and scientific research to build a sustainable knowledge-based economy in this sector in the region.
Eng. Bahiya bint Hilalbin Sultan Al Shuaibi, the Founder and CEO of the company, emphasised that these projects will open the door for international and local institutions to invest in the space industry and benefit from the strategic location of the Sultanate of Oman. It will serve as a suitable destination for spacecraft launches and as a centre for research and activities in the space sector in the region.
It is worth mentioning, that the company aims to engage several partners, including governments, global and regional space agencies, private companies in the space and technology field, universities, research and development centres, scientists, and researchers in the field of space and related technologies, as well as investors and entrepreneurs in the space industry.
Raising the international standing of the Sultanate of Oman in the field of space, and technology and strengthening the commercial, industrial, and scientific relations with leading countries in this field. Build a sustainable knowledge economy and qualifying competencies through these projects. It also seeks to stimulate partnerships and international cooperation in the field of space, advanced sciences, and artificial intelligence, while promoting scientific tourism related to space sciences.
It is worth mentioning, that the Global Space and Technology Company is engaged in several projects and services in the Space and Technology sector. This includes providing satellite communication services, remote sensing, and space imagery. The company also works on simulation projects, Educational Technologies, and space research, providing the necessary equipment. In addition, the company provides consulting services to the government, security, military entities, and the community within the country.
