Muscat: Students will start the new academic year 2023/2024 on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, according to the Ministerial Decision No. (205/2023) regarding the annual calendar of school work for the academic year 2023/2024.
Based on Royal Decree No. 79/2020 defining the competencies of the Ministry of Education and approving its organizational structure, and Royal Decree No. 31/2023 issuing the School Education Law, and Ministerial Resolution No. 146/2022 regarding study dates, exams and vacations for the academic year 2022/2023, and based on what is required by the interest of the work, these decisions have been announced:
1. Article One says that the academic year 2023/2024 for government schools, special education schools, and private schools applying the government calendar system begins on Sunday, corresponding to August 27, 2023, and ends on Thursday, corresponding to July 11, 2024, according to Appendix No. (1) attached to this decision.
2. Article Two states that the working hours of members of the teaching staff in educational directorates, government schools, special education schools, and private schools applying the government calendar system for the academic year 2023/2024 start from Sunday, corresponding to August 27, 2023. Students will start studying on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
3. Article Three stipulates the study plan and operational framework for the academic year 2023/2024 shall be implemented according to Annexes No. (2) and (3) attached to this decision.
4. Article Four saus that the help of members of the teaching staff in the educational directorates and schools is used to carry out the work of examining and correcting exams, as required by the work interest.
5. Article Five states that the working hours of members of the teaching staff in educational directorates, government schools, special education schools, and private schools applying the government calendar system for the academic year 2024/2025 start from Monday, corresponding to August 26, 2024. Students start studying from Wednesday, corresponding to August 28, 2024.
6. Article Six stipulates that the Undersecretary for Education shall take the necessary measures to address any difficulties or challenges that may arise related to the dates of registration and transfer of students and learners.
7. Article Seven states that anything that contradicts this decision or contradicts its provisions shall be repealed.
