Muscat: Oman Flour Mills is keen to buy Omani wheat from Omani farmers annually, as part of the wheat purchase subsidy program. The company confirmed that it has received nearly 5,000 tons of Omani wheat from farmers so far.

This is within the framework of its efforts to enhance food security efforts, support farmers and enable them to enter the market for food products.

This programme aims to encourage farmers to expand wheat cultivation as one of the important strategic crops in Oman, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.

The CEO of Oman Flour Mills confirmed to Oman News Agency that the company will continue its plans to purchase wheat products from farmers during the coming years, and place it in local and regional markets, pointing out that Omani wheat is acceptable to consumers due to its high quality.

Haitham bin Muhammad Al Fannah, CEO of the Oman Flour Mills Company, said: The company appreciates the supreme interest given by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the directives of the government for private investments aimed at strengthening the food security system in the Sultanate of Oman, and what it constitutes. This interest is a great motivation for all parties and investors to double investment in areas of food in order to achieve self-sufficiency and export the surplus abroad.
