Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development yesterday launched a project titled “integrated early childhood development centres”.
A centre under this theme provides educational, health and rehabilitation services to segments of society in one geographical
location.
It focuses on early detection of people with disabilities, lending support for multiple intelligence segments and providing institutional monitoring for the age groups of 3 months to 6 years.
The project is the outcome of cooperation between the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, Sultan Qaboos University and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) office in Muscat.
The project provides care services for children with internationally approved standards and methodologies that consider national privacy.
It comprises programmes within a holistic framework for all sectors, notably social upbringing of children and monitoring the stages of child growth and development.
The project also seeks to raise public awareness about standards of healthy nutrition and mechanisms for the detection of early childhood problems, besides providing innovative educational services that appeal to different age groups.
The project’s launch ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development.
