Muscat: Chris Gayle, the West Indian cricketer– who is currently in India as part of the Indian Premier League – took a break from his cricketing schedule to head to Kerala with his family.
Gayle has been making the most of his trip to south India, and is soaking up the local culture by not just living on, but actually steering a houseboat during his time in God’s Own Country.
Gayle was also eager to dive into traditional delicacies from Kerala, as he gorged on fish curries, drank tender coconut water, bonded with his daughter on the beach and even dived into the river for oysters, activities that were shared on social media by Kerala Tourism, the state’s official tourism authority.
The Tweet read, “@henrygayle is making the most of his Kerala escapade. He has steered a houseboat, tried a lip-smacking Pearl Spot pollichathu, sipped on tender coconuts, combed the beaches and even collected oysters.”
Despite the many activities, Gayle, also took time to take selfies with many local fishermen.
38-year-old Gayle, who is currently playing for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL, shared pictures of himself and his family in Kerala across social media, where he has a following of nearly 14 million people. “It’s really good to always have loved ones around you,” said Gayle, as he posed for a picture with his young daughter Crisalina, and partner Natasha Berridge.
Gayle, whose team will face the Mumbai Indians next Friday, holds the record for the most number of Twenty20 centuries with 21, 14 more than his nearest rival, New Zealander Brendan McCullum.
