Muscat: The Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company will celebrate its groundbreaking new project on April 26, under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture.
The event will be attended by senior officials and representatives from Oman and Kuwait, and held at the construction site of the project in the Special Economic Zone Authority of Duqm (SEZAD).
The event is an important step forward in the development of a world-class integrated refining and petrochemicals project.
A consortium between Oman Oil Company and Kuwait Petroleum International, the project is aimed at boosting the refining industry of Oman and Kuwait and enhancing Duqm’s position as a new business hub in the region, said the company in a press release.
The joint resources, best practices and knowledge, as well as the commitment between the two parties were set to render the project a new landmark in Oman’s energy sector.
The Duqm Refinery project would be one of the growth engines for SEZAD, said the company. The project location will give it a strategic maritime position and a competitive advantage, being in the path of international shipping lanes. This mega project would ultimately transform the Duqm area into one of the most important hubs for energy-related industries regionally and internationally.
