Muscat: SalamAir, the first low-cost carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, launched direct flights to the Turkish city of Rize using its latest Airbus aircraft. Flying every Saturday and Tuesday, it is one of the first international airlines to operate direct flights to Rize.
Captain Mohamed Ahmed, CEO of SalamAir, said that by operating direct flights from Muscat to Rize, SalamAir wants to connect with many local and international markets in the Middle East.
He explained that this brings the total number of flights operated by the company to the Republic of Türkiye to 18 weekly flights, including: Istanbul, Trabzon and Rize.
He added to Oman News Agency (ONA) that this new destination comes within the framework of the operational vision of SalamAir, which aims to reach new tourist destinations that were not previously available for travellers, and to expand the scope of its operations. Noting that by adding this destination to the company’s list of destinations, it gives passengers on board SalamAir more travel options at the best prices, while focusing on the quality of service.
On his part, Mehmet Hakimoglu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye accredited to the Sultanate of Oman, said: “The launch of flights between Muscat and Rize will add to Turkish tourism that has been going on for years, and maintain its diversity and contribute to the development of the economy of the two friendly countries. The development of tourism activities will have a direct financial impact on many commercial sectors, such as airlines, car rental companies, travel agencies, hotels and restaurants, while providing job opportunities for citizens of both countries.”
He explained to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the increase in flight frequency between the two countries will continuously enhance bilateral trade relations, and increase the proportion of tourism and commercial visits from Turkiye to the Sultanate of Oman. This will provide many investment opportunities and joint business in the future.
SalamAir was the first to operate direct flights between the Sultanate of Oman and Trabzon, to follow the example of many other airlines to operate to this destination, providing connectivity to new destinations, thus enhancing regional interdependence in the region.
It is noteworthy that the total local, regional and international destinations to which SalamAir operates direct flights reached 39 destinations, including: Muscat, Salalah, Sohar, Duqm, and Masirah, in addition to its international destinations to: Dubai, Fujairah, Doha, Bahrain, Kuwait, Dammam, Riyadh, Jeddah, Medina, Shiraz, Tehran, Mashhad, Istanbul, Rize, Trabzon, Alexandria, Beirut, Almaty, Baku, Kuala Lumpur, Prague, Sarajevo, Bangkok, Phuket, Chattogram, Dhaka, Colombo, Jaipur, Karachi, Kathmandu, Lucknow, Multan , Sialkot, and Trivandrum.
