Muscat: Twelve 'drift cars' have been seized in Sohar, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced on Thursday.
North Batinah police seized the 12 vehicles that they say were used for drifting and speeding, with an official at the ROP saying: "The confiscated vehicles were not fit for driving as well as it endangered the lives of drivers and others."
He added that the seized vehicles had no plates, except one, which carried fake plate number.
The ROP called upon everyone to cooperate and communicate with the police stations in order to eliminate this phenomenon. "Such vehicles cause fatal traffic accidents and disturb the population due to the lack of safety specifications," the ROP added.
