Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has offered its condolences to Uganda over the attack that targeted a secondary school in Mpondwe district.
"The Ministry of Foreign expressed the Sultanate of Oman's sincere condolences and sympathy to the Government of the Republic of Uganda in the attack that targeted a secondary school in Mpondwe district, western Uganda, which resulted in deaths and injuries. It affirmed the Sultanate of Oman's firm position in condemning violence and terrorism in all its forms," the Ministry said in a statement.
At least 41 people have been killed and eight injured after a school in western Uganda was attacked by armed rebels from the Allied Democratic Force, Uganda’s police said on Saturday, according to a media report.
The police said armed rebels of the ADF, which has ties to ISIS, on Friday night attacked the Lhubirira Secondary School in Mpondwe, along the country’s border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
