Minister of Finance visits Khazaen Economic City

Muscat: Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance, paid a visit to Khazaen Economic City, Barka.

The visit included an introductory presentation about the city's readiness, infrastructure, and projects in operation such as Khazaen Dry Port, Logistics Park and Wakud Bio-Fuel Factory, in addition to undergoing projects such as Khazaen Central Fruits & Vegetables Market, Labour Village and Human Vaccination Factory; in addition to a brief of up-to-date achievements and efforts in attracting foreign direct investments and domestic direct investments. 

 
Eng. Salim bin Sulieman Al Thuhli, CEO of Khazaen Economic City, also presented total attracted investments totalling OMR280 million until the end of the first quarter of 2023 in various sectors such as logistics, industrial, food, pharmaceutical and clean energy sectors.

The total investment value of attracted foreign direct investments totalled OMR150 million, while the total amount of domestic direct investments totalled OMR130 million. As a diverse investment destination, Khazaen attracted over 16 investor nationalities from around the globe and contributed to providing more than 300 direct job opportunities for national resources in various sectors, confirming its role as a project of national importance.

Khazaen is an integrated economic city being developed in Barka, Governorate of South Al Batinah. It is the first project of its kind as an integrated economic city and a free zone being developed in partnership between the public and private sectors. It is located strategically on the Al Batinah expressway, half away from Muscat International Airport, Al Suwaiq Port and about two hours away from Sohar Port.

Among the most prominent Khazaen Economic City projects are Khazaen Dry Port and Food City, which includes Khazaen Central Fruits and Vegetables Market, Logistics Park, Labour Villages, Pharmaceutical factories and light and medium factories.
