Biparjoy expected to weaken to tropical storm within next 48 hours, says Oman Meteorology

Muscat: Oman Meteorology has confirmed that it is expected that the classification of a tropical cyclone will be downgraded to a tropical storm within the next 48 hours.

A statement issued online by Oman Meteorology said that the latest satellite images and analyses of the National Centre for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards, (NCEWMH), show that the tropical cyclone of the first degree is concentrated at latitude 19.7 north and longitude 67.4 east. It is about 800 km away from the coast of the Sultanate of Oman, and the wind speed is estimated at 14 to 80 knots. The tropical cyclone is expected to be downgraded to a tropical storm within the next 48 hours.

Oman Meteorology pointed out that today, Monday, tomorrow, Tuesday, and the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, there will be an influx of high and medium clouds, with a sea wave height of (4-6) metres on the coasts of the Arabian Sea and (2-3) metres on the coasts of the Sea of Oman. There is also a possibility of sea water extending to coastal low areas and khors.
