Muscat: The Minister of Health HE Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti unveiled on Monday, June 5, 2023 the foundation stone for the Mahout Hospital project in Al Wusta Governorate.
HE Sheikh Me'athad Mohammed Al Yaaqoubi, Governor of Al Wusta, HE Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Ajmi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative, Financial, and Planning Affairs, Wali of Mahout and a number of their Excellencies Shura Council members in the Governorate appeared at the groundbreaking ceremony, in addition to officials from the Ministry and from Al Wusta Health Services.
The ceremony included a presentation of the project's components and construction stages delivered by Eng. Jamal Salim Al Shanfari, MOH's Director General of Projects and Engineering Affairs.
The 54-bed hospital is built in a construction area of 18,300 square metres, serving approximately 20,000 people in the Wilayat.
The hospital will include outpatient clinics, an accident and emergency department, an operating theatre, a delivery room, medical laboratories, a pharmacy, and a radiology department, in addition to internal wards, a central sterile supply unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, and a service building.
The hospital will be equipped with electrical and mechanical services, air-conditioning and networking works, along with all supporting services in accordance with the latest systems and applicable standards.
The Ministry has announced earlier last year the commencement of the construction works for this health project upon approval from the Tender Board with a total cost of OMR 13 million and 920 thousands. Construction Works are ongoing and are expected to be completed at the end of 2025.
