WHO announces Oman's Masirah as first healthy island in MENA

Muscat: The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that Masirah island‬⁩ has received a certificate of international recognition as the first healthy island in the Middle East Region.

WHO will hand over the certificate to the Ministry of Health in an official ceremony that will be held next Sunday, June 4, 2023, on Masirah Island. The ceremony will be held under the auspices of His Excellency Dr. Hilal bin Ali bin Hilal Al-Sabti - Minister of Health - as well as in the presence of His Excellency the Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, His Excellency John Jabbour, the representative of the World Health Organization in the Sultanate of Oman, and a number of Excellencies, members of the Shura and Municipal Councils, dignitaries and invitees.
