Riyada Board discusses impact of fee hike on SMEs in Oman

Muscat: The impact of raising government fees on owners of small and medium enterprises was discussed at a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Riyada) on Wednesday.
The Riyada Board of Directors held its first meeting this year under the chair of Dr. Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of Board of Directors.
During the meeting, a number of topics were discussed concerning the impact of raising government fees on owners of small and medium enterprises and proposing procedures that would support entrepreneurs to submit them to the competent authorities.
The Board reviewed the final report of the third version of the Entrepreneurship Award. The Board expressed its satisfaction with the level of the participating and winning institutions, the winner and the development of the award. It discussed mechanisms to develop the 4th version of the award
The Board reviewed the statistics of registered institutions in the Authority.
The number of small and medium enterprises registered at 'Riyada' portal until the end of last March was 3,2400, while the number of entrepreneurs cards reached 9,300.
The board also referred to the initiatives, activities and programs that will be implemented by the ''Riyada'' during the year 2018, amounting to 80 programmes and initiatives. These programmes are gradually developing and will be implemented in various governorates of the Sultanate.
