OHRC participates in training programme on human rights

Muscat: The Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC) and a number of civil society organisations took part in a five-day introductory training programme on human rights in The Hague, Kingdom of Netherlands, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in the Sultanate of Oman.

The programme aims to benefit from the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ experiences at the national and international levels.

This is in addition to exchanging with the National Institution for Human Rights. as well as to learn about the best practices of national institutions in the Netherlands through collaboration with civil society institutions, and to understand the mechanism for integrating human rights concepts into the work of law enforcement agencies.
National Ombudsman

In the Netherlands and the Office of the National Ombudsman, identifying future areas of cooperation and knowledge exchange projects between organisations in the Netherlands and the Oman Human Rights  commission in relation to children’s rights, and the rights of juvenile prison inmates through the organisation of field visits.

This programme also fits within the Oman Human Rights Commission ‘ ongoing efforts to strengthen its external role and benefit from the experiences of friendly countries in developing its work and responsibilities in society.
In addition to strengthening partnerships with community institutions in assuming responsibility and promoting joint action.

The team included committee members and employees, as well as representatives from the Omani Journalists Association (OJA), the General Federation of Oman Workers, the Children First Association, and the Association of Children with Disabilities.
