Muscat: The Royal Hospital, represented by the National Center for Cardiac Medicine and Surgery, has launched a 3D printing service, which is the first of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman, to serve pediatric heart surgery patients.
Dr. Alaa bin Hassan Al Lawati, Head of Cardiac Surgery Department at the National Center for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery at the Royal Hospital, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the introduction of this service was aimed at raising the levels of diagnosis of heart diseases, especially complex ones that may require a multi-stage plan, in addition to raising the accuracy of safe surgical planning for such cases.
He stressed that the introduction of such applications raises the quality of the medical system and helps in keeping in pace with the latest scientific researches in the field of diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases.
