Muscat: Due to the diverse terrain and seasonal climate, the Governorate of Muscat is one of the important tourism destinations in summer.
Boats are one of the attractions for marine tourists due to its biological and geological diversity and wildlife along its beautiful coasts.
Eng. Waheed bin Ali Al-Hindassi, Head of the Ship Registration Department at Port Sultan Qaboos, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, said: “The number of tourist boats registered in the Governorate of Muscat reached 500, while the number of marine tourism companies reached 65, and these boats are distributed along the marinas of Muscat Governorate in Marina Bander Al Rowdha, Shangri-La Marina, Yacht Club, Al Mouj Marina, and Seeb Port.
He added: “There are many marine sports activities carried out by tourism institutions, such as sunrise and sunset trips, diving, fishing trips, skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, dolphin watching, as well as enjoying the stunning scenery and discovering the marine environment.” Marine tourism has witnessed a boom with expansion in services, and this has become a source of income for workers in this field leading to the creation of new job opportunities for Omani youth.
The founder of Oman Tourism said that the sea in summer is an ideal tourist destination, and a place to enjoy the atmosphere with exciting water activities such as diving, where you can see marine life such as fish, turtles and colourful and amazing coral reefs.
He added: “There are a number of other activities such as: rowing boats, and fishing trips. Summer is the perfect time for fishing and enjoying a freshly grilled meal. In the end, it can be said that the sea in summer provides us with a lot of fun, relaxation and adventure.”
