Trial run of early warning service begins in Muscat

Muscat: A real trial run of an early warning broadcast service via mobile phones for subscribers in Muscat Governorate has begun on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, said the Sultanate of Oman's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).

The service includes broadcasting a warning message about a specific emergency situation in record time, with customised tones that appear on the phone automatically. The authority has said that currently, the experiment will include Ooredoo and Omantel subscribers only.

Several subscribers in Muscat have confirmed that they have received the test messages for 'Emergency Warning Broadcast' on their phones today.
