Muscat: Oman’s newest and most exciting payment solutions provider, OMPay, showcased its online payment abilities at the recently concluded 20th Student Forum held at the Oman Across Ages Museum, Manah. Conducted by UTAS Nizwa, the forum brought together students of University of Technology and Applied Sciences Al Musannah, Al Rustaq, Muscat, Salalah and Sur.
Open to a total of 45,000 students of all 11 branches of UTAS in the country, the forum held competitions across 22 different criteria for the generation of fresh ideas in six subject categories, including technology, education and infrastructure. Held from May 7 to 10, the event was themed ‘Digital Horizons’.
As collaborator of the 20th Student Forum, OMPay facilitated proceedings at the event and showcased its products among students. “The youth and students are the target segment critical to the brand and the future of the country. We thank UTAS Nizwa for giving us an ideal platform to connect with them,” said Eng. Abdulaziz Al Rawahi, CEO of Global Financial Technology LLC.
First, second and third place winners in 22 competition categories were awarded cash prizes digitally through the OMPay application. Additionally, special guests and judging committee members were presented OMPay cards. All attending students were also given OMPay gift cards.
OMPay handed out the competition prizes and gifts via its dedicated cards with QR codes for recipients to scan in order to claim their prize amounts. On scanning the QR code, the OMPay app was downloaded on individual devices and the prize or gift amount made available in their respective digital wallets.
Launched in 2022 by Eng. Abdulaziz Al Rawahi and Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel), OMPay is owned and operated by Muscat-based Global Financial Technology LLC, which provides fintech services through its wallet and payment gateway.
Eng. Rawahi expressed that Global Financial Technology’s vision is to become a formidable fintech solutions provider in the region offering a wide variety of enhanced products and services.

OMPay is Oman’s app that offers mobile payment services in the form of a digital wallet to consumers, while enabling merchants to receive payments through its NFC, QR code, POS, bank transfer and online payment gateway.
With the OMPay wallet, users can receive and send money through chat transfers to local and international banks, pay bills and pay through contacts. A one-stop app, OMPay is available for download on the App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei App Gallery.
