State Council discusses draft of Commercial Companies Law

Muscat: The State Council on Tuesday held its fifth regular session of the third year of the sixth period, under the chair of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri, Chairman of the State Council.
It discussed the draft Commercial Companies Law transferred by the Council of Ministers and the report of the Economic Committee regarding it.
The Chairman of the State Council delivered a speech where he reviewed the agenda of the fifth meeting.
He said that this meeting is dedicated for the discussion of the draft Commercial Companies Law transferred by the Council of Ministers and the reports of Majlis A’ Shura and the Economic Committee regarding it.
He added that at its sixth meeting to be held on Wednesday, the Council will approve the final version of rules of procedure of the State Council that was discussed at the previous session.
It will also discuss the study and review of the land laws in the Sultanate, which was submitted by the Legal Committee.
It will also review a number of reports on the activities of the State Council.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Harthy, Head of the Economic Committee delivered the statement of the Committee on the draft Commercial Companies Law.
The agenda of the meeting includes approving the final draft of the internal regulation of the State Council, which was submitted by the Legal Committee.
At the session, the council will note a number of reports and themes including a report on the eleventh periodic meeting of excellencies and presidents of the Legislative Assemblies of the States of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held in Kuwait between January 8th and 9th, 2018, as well as the report pertaining to the Council’s participation in the Conference of the Union of Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Tehran from January 15 to 17.
It will also look at the report relating to the Omani Cultural Exhibition hosted at the European Parliament between November 6th to 10th, 2017. — ONA, the general report on the meeting of the Working Group on ‘mechanisms for the empowerment of women to reach elected councils’ with the committee for the follow-up to the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).Additionally, the report on the recommendations of the Oman Human Resources Forum (first session 2018) will also be reviewed.
The council will also be briefed at the meeting on the report of the secretariat on the activities of the council and a report on the functioning of the standing committees of the council.
