Muscat: The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) has begun its participation in the first edition of Kuwait International Agro Food Expo which kicked off on Sunday at Kuwait International Fair Grounds under the auspices of Ali bin Hashem Al Kandari, Chairman of the Kuwait Union for Consumer Cooperative Societies.
The event is highlighting various sectors related to agro food including agriculture products and equipment, food and beverages, hospitality and catering, food security and food safety, aquaculture, fisheries, poultry, dairy, among others.
Commenting on the participation of PEIE in the expo, Omar bin Mohamed Muqaibal, director-general of Marketing and Media at PEIE, stressed the importance of taking part in specialised exhibitions to boost production and expand markets for the Omani products.
“A number of Omani companies are participating under the umbrella of PEIE in this expo, which is offering an opportunity for the Omani firms to learn about the latest technologies in the agriculture industry as well as benefit from the experiences of the participating factories,” he said.
“In addition to that, the companies have the chance to hold B2B meetings with the participating businessmen and interested visitors to explore cooperation opportunities and ink deals at the event,” Muqaibal pointed out.
He added that the participation in Kuwait’s expo comes in line with Origin Oman campaign that aims at raising awareness on the locally manufactured products and services and their ability to compete locally and abroad simultaneously.
Origin Oman Campaign is a national initiative designed to encourage consumers and organisations to buy Oman made goods and services, promote national pride in the manufacturing industry and highlight the economic importance of choosing and buying locally manufactured products and services.
He further said that the exhibition also offers an opportunity to disseminate awareness on the role played by the PEIE in enhancing the Sultanate’s position as a leading regional centre of manufacturing, ICT, innovation and entrepreneurship excellence, and its mission in attracting industrial investments and providing continued support, through regionally and globally competitive strategies, good infrastructure, value adding services, and easy governmental processes.
It should be noted that the expo is witnessing participations from several countries including Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, India, United States of America, India, Sri Lanka, and Singapore. The participation of PEIE in this major event in Kuwait comes in line with its plan to promote Omani products abroad.
In addition to its organisation of local exhibitions and events, PEIE has participated in a number of international events during the first quarter of 2018. Besides Kuwait, PEIE has participated in the International Fair of Khartoum in January and Gulfood 2018 in February. Additionally, PEIE will take part in Malaysia International Halal Showcase next April.
