What will the weather in Oman be like today?
The Sultanate of Oman's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued Alert No. (11)

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued Alert No. (11), stating that heavy rains along with thunderstorms which are concentrated in the governorates of the North and South Al Sharqiyah, and Muscat, are expected for Friday, April 28, 2023.

The Authority issued Alert No. (11) of heavy rains expected today from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm.

This came through a publication of the authority monitored by “Times of Oman”, in which it alerts of heavy thunderstorms that are likely during the noon and evening periods. The weather is concentrated in the governorates of Al Sharqiyah South, Al Sharqiyah North, and parts of Muscat Governorate, extending to include parts of Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah and Al Wusta. The range is expected to be from 20 to 50 mm. Parts of the mountains of the governorates of North Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah and Dhofar may also be affected.

The Civil Aviation Authority called on everyone to take precautions, not to cross valleys, avoid low lying areas, and not venture into the sea during the warning period.

Alerts:

- Heavy rains ranging between 20-50 mm lead to overflowing valleys and reefs.

- Active downward winds, with speeds ranging between 15 and 40 knots (28-74 km/h).

- Opportunities for hail and thunderbolts.

- Low horizontal visibility due to dust storms.
