Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, is participating with the countries of the world today, April 18, in celebrating the World Heritage Day.
The interest of the Sultanate of Oman in heritage comes through a number of programmes that include restoration and maintenance of heritage monuments and coordination with prestigious universities and specialized centers to carry out archaeological surveys and excavations. The Ministry is also working to coordinate with the World Heritage Center to protect and sustain world heritage sites in Oman.
In conjunction with the International Day, the Ministry organised a programme to celebrate the World Heritage Day at the Bisya and Salut Visitors Center in the Wilayat of Bahla, in the presence of Dr. Amina Al Balushi, Research and Studies Consultant and Acting Director General of Antiquities at the Ministry, and a number of Ministry employees, with the participation of a number of schools in the Dakhiliyah Governorate, and included a number of events for all students, a video presentation will be presented, in addition to an exhibition of a number of the Ministry's publications and the Ministry's efforts to restore archaeological holdings.
