
Muscat: Muscat Municipality confirms that the slaughterhouses of Muscat Municipality are completing their preparations to welcome Eid Al-Fitr.
Muscat Municipality announced the readiness of its slaughterhouses in Al-Seeb and Al-Amerat to receive the public during and before Eid Al-Fitr, confirming the completion of the veterinary medical staff, and the provision of sufficient numbers of butchers, workers and cleaners, and all requirements that qualify slaughterhouses to provide the finest services, according to best practices that achieve customer satisfaction, amid a healthy environment and superior veterinary control.
This is in aim of delighting the beneficiaries of slaughterhouse services, and meeting demand in conditions that guarantee safety and abundance that cover the needs of community members, to ensure quality and speed of work at the same time.
Technical slaughterhouse preparations
Within the framework of the preparations for the Al-Seeb and Al-Amerat slaughterhouses, the Muscat Municipality, represented by the Directorate General of Health Affairs, is supervising the company operating the slaughterhouses by increasing the staff, ensuring the efficiency of the equipment and the availability of tools, as well as working to provide them with the latest slaughtering equipment and devices, in the preparation of meat in terms of processing, cooling, transportation and storage under the supervision of a specialized technical and veterinary cadre supervises all stages of slaughter.
In addition to ensuring the maintenance and preparation of these devices and ensuring their ability to accommodate a large number of carcasses of all kinds, within a system that allows the consumer to obtain goods with high quality standards, in addition to applying health requirements and controls must be adhered to in order to ensure the health and safety of individuals.
Working hours:
As for the working hours of slaughterhouses, they will be designated for individuals and companies, starting on Monday (26 Ramadan 1444 AH - April 17, 2023) from 6 am to 1 pm for individuals, while the period allocated to companies will be from 7 pm to midnight.
In order to speed up the mechanism of slaughtering and handing it over to the public, and to avoid increasing pressure, all work periods will be allocated to the public only from Friday 30 Ramadan 1444 AH to the second day of Eid al-Fitr, where the morning period is from (7 am to 2 pm) for the slaughter of livestock (sheep and goats only).
As for the evening period from (4 pm to 8 pm), it was specified for the slaughter of livestock, including cows and camels only.

The statistics recorded at the slaughterhouses of Muscat Municipality indicated the number of slaughtered animals before and during the days of Eid Al-Fitr, which amounted to (7,716) carcasses in the year 1442 AH / 2021, while the number of slaughtered animals in the past year reached 1443 AH / 2022, with (7,494) carcasses.

Muscat Municipality renews its call to consumers of the importance of slaughtering in slaughterhouses. To ensure their health and the safety of their families and to avoid infection with diseases that are transmitted from animals to humans.
The municipality also warns citizens against dealing with itinerant butchers because they do not have health certificates, which guarantee that they are free from infectious diseases, in addition to the slaughtering process being free of health requirements, which may cause health damage, not to mention environmental damage in terms of not disposing of slaughter residues, and shedding the blood of the victim in public places, thus distorting the general view and emitting foul odours
