Over 13,000 permits issued for home business activities in Oman

Muscat : More than 13,000 permits have been issued to practice home business activities , an official at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said.

Mubarak bin Mohammed Al-Dohani, Director General of the Directorate General of Commerce at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, confirmed to Times of Oman that the number of permits issued recently by the ministry regarding the practice of home business activities amounted to more than 13,000.

At the annual media meeting of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Al-Dohani emphasised the high turnout of home-based activities. The number of permits issued when the decision was issued reached 9,000, and that there is community awareness. The aim of these permits is to obtain support for small enterprises.

According to the annual media meeting held, the Ministry issued (16) decisions and regulations during the past year, including the provision of electronic payment service to consumers, the regulation of practicing home production business, and the issuance of a regulation for organising and managing exhibitions. As well as the regulation regulating offices for approving foreign investor applications, the regulation regulating the practice of marketing and promotion activity on websites and social media, in addition to the regulation over control of accounting and auditing offices and companies, institutions and companies of precious metals and stones of value with regard to combating money laundering and terrorist financing
