Muscat: Match-winning performances by Zeeshan Maqsood and Shakeel Ahmed powered Assarain to a seven-wicket win against Al Turki NMC in a T20 Premier League game at the Ministry of Sports Affairs Ground I in Amerat on Saturday.

Opting to bowl first, Assarain dismissed Al Turki for 135 in 20 overs. Twinkal Bhandari topscored with 52 off 51 while Suraj Kumar contributed 23 off 24.

While Shakeel bagged three wickets, five of Al Turki batsmen lost their wickets to run outs.

Facing a modest total, Assarain raced to the target in 15.4 overs, scoring 137 for three. Opening the innings, Zeeshan Maqsood slammed a hurricane 89 off 43 to make sure a comfortable win for his side. Gustav Burger scored 34 off 35.

Jay Odedara took two wickets for Al Turki NMC.

Brief scores: Al Turki NMC all out for 135 in 20 overs (Twinkal Bhandari 52, Suraj Kumar 24; Shakeel Ahmed 3/18) lost to Assarain 137 for 3 in 15.4 overs (Zeeshan Maqsood 89, Gustav Burger 34, Jay Odedara 2/40).

Shoaib spurs White Lotus

Shoaib Ismail’s superb 61 steered White Lotus International to an exciting win over PDO in a Senior Cup Knockout game at Muscat Municipality Ground II.

Batting first, White Lotus posted 178 for five in 20 overs thanks to Shoaib’s 61 of 47 and Homeshwar Ratre’s 59 off 39. Zakir Khan bagged two wickets for 29.

PDO got off to a good start, scoring 82 for one in the ninth over but lost the way in the final overs, falling short by 16 runs as they scored 162 for nine in 20 overs. Abdul Naveed was once again the topscorer with 46 off 28. Malik Ali Khan, Muhammed Sameer, Neil Paily and Nazish Mohammed claimed two wickets apiece.

Sarco thrash Basta

In another Senior Cup match, Sarco trounced Basta CT by 42 runs at Muscat Municipality Ground I.

Invited to bat first, Sarco piled up 218 for five in 20 overs thanks to powerful knocks by Ajay Menon (61 off 30), Sathish Achary (39 off 32) and Akshath Castelino (38 off 22).

Basta struggled to maintain the run rate and could manage only 176 for eight in 20 overs. Only captain Prasad Perulli batted well, scoring 67 off 38. Rakesh Patel, Jetheesha Shridhara and Shah Murtaza bagged two wickets each.
