Muscat: The Zubair Enterprise Development Center (Zubair EDC) participated in a workshop about the challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurship. The workshop was organized by the Faculty of Business Studies at the Arab Open University Oman and was attended by a number of professors, students, and entrepreneurs.
Representing the Zubair EDC were Thuraya Bint Majed Al Mahrouqi, a business associate, Ali Bin Saeed Al Rashdi, Chief Executive of "Muawana", and Nabil Bin Saeed Al Harbi, Chief Executive of "Tawakul", both members of Zubair EDC.
Following the workshop, Thuraya Bint Majed Al Mahrouqi, explained, "This workshop was a unique opportunity to spread the culture of entrepreneurship among students and encourage them to establish their businesses. It also educates them about the spirit of entrepreneurship, in terms of action- driven thinking, and a pro-active approach to the job market.During my participation in the workshop, I talked about the services provided by Zubair EDC, the entrepreneurship system in the Sultanate, the role of supporting agencies for entrepreneurs or students entering the world of entrepreneurship, and the importance of creativity in entrepreneurship.It was a pleasure seeing students engaging and interacting during each talking point.”
She also added, "This participation comes within the framework of Zubair EDC's interest in spreading entrepreneurship culture in collaboration with its strategic partners from government, private corporations, or the academic sector. There is also a close cooperation between Zubair EDC and the Arab Open University Oman that aims to spread entrepreneurship culture and educate students and graduates, providing the labor market with qualified young entrepreneurs."
Amani Bint Ahmad Al Balushi, Director of the Training Academy for Arab Open University Oman, said, "We would like to thank the Zubair Enterprise Development Center (Zubair EDC) for their participation in the workshop, which surely achieved its desired objectives. Our aim is to continue organizing these types of workshops and forums with our student to encourage their entrepreneurship thinking.”
Ali Bin Saeed Rashdi, the Chief Executive of Muaawana, stated, "First, we would like to thank the Zubair EDC for this nice gesture and continuing support for its members through guidelines and advice provided by the Centre's experts or by providing such opportunities to participate in events and training workshops held by the Centre's strategic partners. During the workshop, we educated students about the importance of establishing their businesses, which cannot be achieved without passion. It was important to also shed some light on the challenges one can face when starting a business, specifically during the recent Covid-19 period, and the role of the Zubair EDC in supporting businesses throughout their journey”.
The Zubair Enterprise Development Centre (Zubair EDC) was established in 2013 as one of the initiatives emanating from The Zubair Corporation's social responsibility strategic vision towards the Omani society.
