Saudi women can now join the army

Muscat: Women in Saudi Arabia can now apply to be soldiers in the army, according to the country's Directorate of Public Security.
"The Directorate of Public Security/Training Affairs announces the opening of admission and registration for a number of military posts for the rank of soldier, with secondary school education or higher, according to the conditions and qualifications required for recruitment in the following areas: Riyadh, Makkah, Madinah, Qassim, Asir, Eastern," the directorate announced on their official website.
These are the conditions of entry:
- The applicant must be of Saudi origin and excludes those who grew up with their fathers who worked in a government job outside the Kingdom.
- The academic qualification should not be less than the general secondary school or its equivalent.
- At least 25 years of age and not more than 35 years of age.
- Must pass the admission tests and the personal interview by the female employees.
- Must pass the medical examination.
- The height of the applicant should not be less than 155 cm and the height should be proportional to the weight according to the medical regulations.
- The applicant must be of good conduct and behaviour.
- The applicant must not be an employee in any government agency or have previously worked on the military service system.
- Must not be married to a non-Saudi.
- Must have an independent national identity.
- The place of her residence and the location of her guardian's work must be in the same region or governorate in which the job is located.
- Must comply with the admission and registration requirements and to pay attention to the accuracy of the personal information and scientific qualifications listed in the application form.
