Muscat: There are over 16,000 mosques in the Sultnate, according to data released today from the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
The number of mosques by the end of 2017 in the Sultanate has reached 16,004 mosques.
Al Dakhiliyah has the largest number of mosques in the Sultanate, with 3,058, followed by North Sharqiyah with 2,131, then South Batinah with 1,867 mosques and Al Dhahirah with 856 mosques and north Batinah with 769 mosques and South Sharqiyah with 1,271 mosques.
Muscat has 1,254 mosques, with 473 more in Dhofar, and 416 in Buraimi.
