World Autism Spectrum Disorder Awareness Day celebrated

Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development, represented by the National Autism Centre, celebrated on Sunday the ‘World Autism Spectrum Disorder Awareness Day’ at its headquarters in Seeb.

The ceremony witnessed many functions and singing activities, educational competitions, face painting, and storyteller performances, in which children of the National Autism Centre and children of educational institutions participated.

It is noteworthy that the National Autism Centre aims to provide rehabilitative and therapeutic services, and model training programmes for autism spectrum disorder and their families. It is characterised by an integrated rehabilitation and training environment that helps to develop their level of performance to reach independence and achieve their integration into society in different stages of life, in addition to providing internationally accredited programmes and training to enhance and develop the skills of national cadres working in the field of autism spectrum disorder.

The centre aims to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorder, the importance of diagnosis, early intervention, and comprehensive education, and provide internationally accredited training programmes for families that help them understand the requirements of their children with autism spectrum disorder, participate in the preparation and implementation of rehabilitation plans, and follow a comprehensive approach.
