Indian passengers used Muscat International Airport the most

Muscat: The number of incoming and outgoing international flights through Oman Airports by the end of January 2023 increased by more than 160 percent. The data is in comparison with the same period in 2022.

According to the statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information, ( NCSI ), the number of incoming and outgoing international flights through Muscat International Airports, Salalah and Sohar until the end of January 2023 was about 7,525 while it was 2,893 flights in 2022.

Initial statistics of the ( NCSI ) pointed out that the number of arrivals through the airports of the Sultanate of Oman witnessed a remarkable increase by 94 percent and the number of departures increased by 115 percent until the end of last January compared to the same period in 2022. The total number of arriving, departing and transiting passengers at the airports of Muscat, Salalah, Sohar and Duqm amounted to about 1,165,556 until the end of last January.

Incoming and outgoing international and domestic flights through Muscat International Airport increased by 143 percent to reach 7,687 flights, carrying 1,51,390 passengers.

Salalah Airport recorded a significant increase in the number of international and domestic flights by 43.1 percent, as the number of flights through the airport reached 774, carrying 105,719 passengers.

As for the number of international and domestic flights departing and arriving from Sohar Airport, it reached 24 flights until the end of last January, carrying 2,380 passengers, while Duqm Airport recorded 52 incoming and outgoing domestic flights, carrying 6,067 passengers.

Passengers of Indian nationality topped the list of those who used Muscat International Airport the most for travelling with a total of 151,087 passengers, followed by Bangladeshi nationality with a total of 52,16 passengers and Pakistani nationality with 39,762 passengers.
