Muscat: Muscat Municipality has announced that the clothes collection containers will be removed from the streets of the Sultanate of Oman.

The Municipality also announced the suspension of issuing approvals for placing used clothing collection containers in public places in Muscat Governorate.

This came through a publication of the Muscat Municipality, in which it explained that the suspension came due to the accumulation of containers at street entrances and in residential neighborhoods, which led to the emergence of traffic, environmental, health problems, and distortion of the general view.

The municipality called on all committees, associations and institutions that were previously licensed to place containers in public places to remove them within one year from the date of this announcement, provided that the service of collecting used clothes is limited to electronic applications after obtaining the approval from the competent authorities.

The municipality indicated that it will take the necessary measures in the event of non-compliance.
