Muscat: Wilayat Jalan Bani Bu Ali has won first place in the Municipalities and Water Resources Competition. Wilayat Samail came in second, with Wilayat Mudhaibi ranked third overall.
The competition ranked municipalities according to their respective beauty and development projects, the creation and maintenance of green public spaces, support for handicraft industries, hygiene, water resource projects, public maintenance projects, lighting, and support for municipal projects.
The award ceremony was attended by a number of dignitaries from across the Sultanate, led by the guest of honour Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Interior. Throughout the event, Jalan Bani Bu Ali showcased its wealth of culture through a wide variety of entertaining dances, poetry recitals, and other traditional performances in celebration of the landmark event.
The top five wilayats were crowned by His Majesty the Sultan’s Cups with cash awards namely the Wilayat of Ja’alan bin Bu Ali as the first winner, the Wilayat of Sumail came second, the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi came third, the Wilayat of Saham came fourth and the Wilayat of Al Buraimi came fifth.
Winners of the Ministry’s cup and cash awards were the Wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid in the sixth place, the Wilayat of Manah came seventh, the Wilayat of Dhank came eighth, the Wilayat of Ja’alan bin Bu Hassan came ninth and the Wilayat of Shinas came tenth.
